Pre-clean assessment
Pull a baseline shot and note the taste, extraction time, and crema. We measure improvement against this.

Descale
Brand-appropriate descaler runs through the boiler, water lines, and group head to dissolve mineral scale built up in Coeur d'Alene's hard water.

Group head deep-clean
Remove the shower screen, dispersion plate, and group gasket. Soak in espresso-machine cleaner. Brush every passage.

Portafilter & baskets
Soak portafilters and baskets in puck-free coffee oil dissolver. Brush every chamfered edge clean.

Steam wand & milk lines
On machines with milk plumbing, sanitize the lines and tips. On manual steam wands, strip mineral scale and clear nozzles.

How much does espresso machine cleaning cost in Coeur d'Alene?
Ignite charges a flat $120 for a residential espresso machine service across Coeur d'Alene, Hayden, Post Falls, and Spokane Valley. Built-in Miele or Wolf coffee systems may add a small access fee, quoted before we start.
How often should an espresso machine be descaled?
Every 2 months for daily drinkers, every 4 months for casual home users. Coeur d'Alene's hard water makes descaling more important here than soft-water regions. Most homeowners are surprised how much scale we pull out the first time.
Why do my shots taste worse than when I bought the machine?
Three reasons usually: old coffee oils baked into the group head and shower screen, mineral scale narrowing the water path, and residue in the portafilter spouts. All three are addressed in our service. Most clients tell us shot 1 after our visit tastes like a new machine.
Do you service Jura and other super-automatic machines?
Yes. Super-automatics have their own programs we run during service, plus we manually clean the brew unit, milk system, and waste tray. These machines need MORE frequent service than manual machines because of the integrated milk system.
What about built-in Miele or Wolf coffee systems?
Yes, included in the $120. We have the right access tools and follow the manufacturer's service procedures. Built-ins are particularly prone to milk-line buildup since they often run multiple drinks per day.
How long does the service take?
About 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on the machine. Most of the time is descale soak and verification shots. You don't need to be hands-on, but it's nice to get a fresh espresso when we wrap up.
